Optiarc DVD RW 7203A not working

Again I have to turn to the experts.

My Optiarc DVD RW AD 7203A ATA is not working. Now I am not sure if it was or was not working after I installed Win 7 64 bit RC as I did not check it.

The DVD RW does not appear in "Devices and Printers" but does say that is working properly in "Device Manager."

It does not play a DVD, or recognize anything. I received error code 0xC0AA020F ( The media's speed is incompatible with the device) when attempting to create a systems image. It will not format a Disk - Disk I used was Verbatim CD-R 700MB (It was working properly in Vista 32)

I saw several entries about the Optiarc not reading/ working but I have a different model version and therefore I am not sure how to proceed.

Looked at the Optiarc website but did not see a driver update for my model.

Question - What steps do I take to resolve this problem? And as always thanks for your suggestions and help.

Thank you for the link - however I have reservations...
The site says that I may damage the drive if it is an OEM which it is -

Sony Optiarc Europe GmbH is not liable for any damages caused by incorrect installation of firmware updates on its devices.

Also note that our firmware updates are not compatible with those provided by OEM vendors (Sony Optiarc drives pre-installed by the PC manufacturers e.g. HP, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Apple etc.). You may damage your drive if you flash it with incompatible firmware.

Where did you find the info in the first post from, device manager?
Maybe the place you bought it from changed it before selling it.
If it is indeed the dvd player from your first post id try those drivers.

To be safe contact the person who sold it to you and ask if them what dvd drive is installed and they should point you to the drivers.

    Good Idea...
Device Manager says it is Optiarc DVD RW AD 7203A. The second link is from the Gateway site after I entered the model number.

    Again thanks
