Problem with DVD/CD Drive

My dvd drive recently stopped working.

Before my external HDD wasn't showing up, and then it was. And at that point the dvd drive went out. How can I fix this? I suspect the two are related because of the one suddenly working again and the other stopping.

The main difference is though that the HDD was showing up in device manager. The DVD drive isn't.

Hey Lan,
I had a similar problem and realized the CD driver wasn't connected very well. You might try the cable and see if its in all the way.

Thanks,
Sarah

While you have the case open I would try..
1 unplug the Cd/DVD drive and bootup .
The drive should not be seen.

2. Shutdown and hookup the cable again.
See if Windows 7 sees the drive and/or corrects the issue.
