Swapping disks from inside an HDD to another

    Hi,

I have a 250GB WD notebook hard drive (it's actually from an external hard drive which I dismantled) and its motor seemed to have failed, and I really want to recover the data in these disks. I don't really know the true, down-to-earh workings of the insides of hard disks so I'm wondering if anybody knows if I could swap the disks from one to the other?

I found an 80GB WD Scorpio HDD (same as my 250 GB, also "Scorpio") on ebay and I'm really wondering if I could swap the disks without a problem. I'm concerned that the spindle specifications, etc, may be different from each other because of the capacity. Both should be able to support two-layer disks so, that I'm sure.

Anyone have any thoughts? Would be greatly appreciated.

At home NO,needs to be done in a lab.

You need to find a certified data salvaging and recovery service.
