Cant conect to VGA from HDTV unless..

i am having problems when connecting my desktop computer (HP a1730n, Windows 7 Ultimate) when connected to my HDTV via VGA it works all the way up till after the windows loading screeny thing. then it just disconnects from the tv. i dont understand i tried this with both my desktop pcs. ( they are the same model) and it just stops working after loading windows. wont even show the welcome sign. i know the pc is still on and working cuz i had my monitor out and testing differnt settings seeing if thats the problem but i cant figure it out!. im on my TV via VGA on my desktop pc but im in safe mode. (doing more tests) and its working on safe mode. but not on normal boot up. i have all the latest updates and everything up to date on my video drivers. Is there some thing i have to do? its only in windows 7 too cuz i updated to 7 from vista and vista was working fine. but my laptop works via VGA without problems and its on 7 ultimate aswell.

    any help thanks!

Welcome to Windows 7 Support forums,
MZ your issue is a little unclear to me as I understand that you are attempting to connect a computer to an HD monitor. I'm not clear as to what you are attempting to playback either a video playback that you are attempting from your hard drive or if you are using a TV tuner from with in your PC.
From your stats you are using the HP Multimedia PC with a graphics card that uses a VGA connection. The central Issue is that a VGA connection to a hi resolution monitor may be beyond your graphics card capability. If I remeber you may have a Radeon card but I can't be sure. The resolution and refresh of your HD TV may be to great, and/or you may not have drivers for the card.
    Regards,
    Adrian

MZ, after researching your system specs it appears you are using a graphics card from NIVDIA that is only VGA capable, so either you are connecting to an HD TV that has an onboard VGA IN or or some sort of converter cable to the HDMI IN?
    Please elaborate.

my HDTV has a VGA input. but somehow only on windows 7 and on this hp model its not connecting to signal. no signal it displays when i reach towards the welcome screen. when i go to my VGA input on TV it shows the comp booting up and stuff. i can go to my BIOs settings. and i can access safemod and i even disabled my GFx card and i tried it and it worked. im believe i need to try a older gfx drivers for vista on my 7. but i haven't tried that yet. because on vista it worked perfect. My GFx card is 6150 LE

    any other ideas?

i tired disabling the 150 LE under device manager and it worked but aero is gone and nivida drivers /settings. doesn't look so clear. i tried installer a older vista pack but it says its not compatible or something. err this is really pissing me off all i want is my comp on my tv lol. and thought 7 would be able to do this..if vista did with no problems. i uninstalled the 6150 le drivers and when i restart it just automatically installs the drivers for it.

Almost sounds like resolution or refresh rate problem. If you haven't already double check the resolution and refresh rate settings and make sure they are set to what the TV can handle.

i know the tv can hadle the graphics card cuz it can handle it on vista. its not a refresh rate i dont think. idk ill test em out later. worst comes to worst i guesss... ill just have to install vista back on it.. but i love 7.. its so much better. i only want that comp hooked to my tv. i store all my media on it. its sorta like my game rig and media server. errm i want this to work on 7. my laptop works on the tv both vga and hdmi. but its a laptop and different gfx.
