way to install scanjet 4800 on win 7 home preimum

the following steps worked for me:
1 download, but DON'T Run it yet, setup_full_4800.exe (216 MB) from hp "Windows 7" link
2 open the Task Manager > click Services Tab > click the Services button (bottom right)
3 scroll down to and click "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service"
4 click the Stop the service link (upper right)
    5 repeat steps 3 & 4 for "hpqcxs08"
6 Start > Help and Support > search "windows xp compatibility mode"
7 choose "Make older programs run in this version of Windows"
8 click "Click to open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter." click "Next"
9 select "Not Listed" and click Next
10 Browse to setup_full_4800.exe file location > Open > Next
11 follow the prompts, try your scanner, click "Save These Settings"
12 I restarted the two stopped hp services. Not sure if they are needed.
    happy scanning!

    HP 4850 Scanjet Software

    Hello:

I would love it if you could upload the FULL FEATURED VERSION 14.00 software for HP 4850 Scanjet.

Went to HP Software Drivers Page for it and only got Install Help!

OS: Windows 7 x64 Pro, English
    Scanjet Software: BASIC, VERSION 14.00
    Thanks, Donald

Windows 7 enterprise service pack 1 32 bit

bikeEast6 - Your directions were solid, but when I got to the install, it stopped due to missing registry keys. I assume becuase it's looking for keys from XP. I am totally lost at what to do now to get this scanner working. I looked on the HP site for drivers, but I couldn't make heads or tails of what I needed. I've got Windows 7 enterprise 32 bit if that matters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

BTW - I got to step 10 in your instructions exactly, but after the "follow the prompts" I'm not sure if I chose or did something wrong. I remember it asked what operating system it originally came from or something similar. I chose XP. Maybe I shouldn't have?' I attached a copy of the error I am getting.

I have the same problem with win 7 pro. When I try to load the original CD, I get a prompt telling me the software is not compatable with Win 7.

Does anyone know how to upgrade the original software and then install it?

Don't know if this will work with your printer but with mine all I do is boot into windows & turn on the printer. Drivers are automatically installed from the net.

I have tried that with my HP 4800 flatplate scanner but it did not work. Nothing was updated and I do not know what to do next.
