If you really want to try to replace a laptop screen, get the service manual from the manufacturer. Otherwise you won't even get close and will probably break something in the process
i would think as long as the screen was compatible it would work the only problem is how many laptops do they actually make touch screen monitors for?
That's a good general purpose article, but it's still a good idea to get the actual manufacturers' service manual for the specific model you're going to be working on. Unfortunately for the OP, HP doesn't offer an LCD with a higher resolution than the one he already has for an HP DV7.
