    USB Flash drive format?

Hi I have an 8 GB flash drive that is formatted as FAT32. Will I mess it up if I use W 7 to reformat it as NFTS?

The reason is because TrueCrypt can install larger containers in NFTS.

    Thanks.

W7 should recognize either partition type.

You shouldnt have any problems. Lifetime of the device will drop a little as NTFS keeps access times so you write to the device more... but it doesnt hurt it nearly as much as readyboost would.

Rather than NTFS, which can decrease the lifetime, why not format it into exfat (extended file allocation table). Its slightly better than fat 32 in terms of file arrangement, and the file size limit gone in exfat. Simply use the exfat option instead of the ntfs or fat 32.
