    Broadcom Bluetooth driver install failed

Talking about the Broadcom Bluetooth installer at Broadcom.com - Home.
Everything works fine until the Instalshield process. Fails, saying "Device not plugged in" for Bluetooth Peripheral Device and Multimedia Audio Controller. Bluetooth Radios and Human Interface Devices are OK.
Do you think my Bluetooth adapter is possibly just too old? It is a Belkin F8T012.
    Broadcom.com - Home doesn't offer support.

I wonder if you ever got any help. - When I download the latest Windows 7 Bluetooth package from Broadcom Widcomm whatever. It stops at the install and says, "an older version of this software has been discovered. Please remove it, then return to this installation. I tried that, and removed everything I could find remotely associated with bluetooth, but get the same message.

Looks like nobody cares on either end. - Guess I have to buy a dongle! - The headset, picks up the bluetooth on my TV, the bluetooth in my (2 year old) car even! - Some kind of range war between Sony and Broadcomm perhaps?

Or is it that you're not buying anything so we wont help you. Which seems to be the new norm in dealing with Sony.

Out of warranty? -1st 15 mins support free, and they know how to stretch that out. Then it's credit card time.

It's not even a warranty issue. This is something that should work. I just never had any use for bluetooth on my Vaio before.

    Most frustrating
