    C: Drive Missing

    Hi all--

I recently suffered some sort of virus attack that somehow erased portions of my system. I tried to reinstall W7, but the installation couldn't find my C: drive, not is it visible in Device Manager or in Administration/Computer Management. My partition software says it's there, and I only have a few issues with actually using it.

Should I just Format C: and reinstall from a USB key? This all began when Comcast switched to Norton from McAfee...I think...

As always, any insight/help is sincerely appreciated.

    Try this first:

    Startup Repair

    Repair Install

check for the drives in registry... [regedit \ HKLM \ SYSTEM \ Mounted Devices] do you see your drives there? I am simply curious to see exactly what this 'virus' did.

it's not gone, it's simply removing the drive from view. There are a couple ways to fix this issue. easiest way is to install tweakui and reset your drive view with a simple check mark. Next run malwarebytes, and that should clean the remainder of the issue if it's not cleared already.
