Windows 7

Hi Brink
I tried what you said and i got an error saying that the volume size is too small. I then followed the info in the link you left and still got the same error.
I also tried formatting using ntfs like karlsnooks suggested still same error.
Any ideas?

One of my flash drives write protected itself and it didn't even have a write protect switch. The thing refused to format under all circumstances. I did do a lot of Google searching and most places said that the flash drive was now useless. I ended up getting rid of it.

Anyway, can you still add files to the flash drive? Or not?

I hope that your USB starts working normally again

You had mistyped a command in step 5 of the tutorial.

You needed to type select disk 1 instead of just disk 1.

I had the same problem with my Patriot flash memory & Kingmax flash memory in Windows 7 x64. I checked their manufacturer's website and downloaded format tools that were provided for them. they format the device without any problem.

Use GParted LiveCD. Download it burn it to cd. Reboot machine Pick default in start up menu. pick leave keymap alone. pick 33 for language choice. pick 0 for video choice. Then choose Devices and then your particular flashdrive. Delete the partitions. Pick NEW and reformat it. Done!

i have the same problem with my pendrive...
--my problem was started because i try to make my pendrive bootable using cmd..
and i do this..
1. Plug in your USB Flash Drive
2. Open a command prompt as administrator (Right click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt and select “Run as administrator”
3. Find the drive number of your USB Drive by typing the following into the Command Prompt window:
diskpart
list disk
The number of your USB drive will listed. You’ll need this for the next step. I’ll assume that the USB flash drive is disk 1.
4. Format the drive by typing the next instructions into the same window. Replace the number “1” with the number of your disk below.
select disk 1
