    Installing a SSD


    What i want to do is to one day install Windows 7 on a SSD, and then use my current HHd to store my files.

    what would be a recommeded size to get? What is the minimum size drive (SSD or HHD) that i would need to install Windows 7?

    I know that SSD's are expesive right now, so i want balance speed with storage space. When the prices come down enough, i am going 100% SSD (hopefully within the next 3-4 years)

    I current have a 250Gb HHD.

    Also, can a laptop have two Drives installed? i have both a Dell Desktop and a laptop, and i want to be able to do this to both comptuers.

    Welcome!

    The smallest possible size to install Win7 on is 8GB. However, I would recommend at least 16, if not 32.

    Yes, you can have 2 drives installed in a laptop, but not 2 internal ones. You could get an external drive, but you could not install Windows 7 on it.

    You won't want to get an SSD drive less than 30GB if you plan to run Windows 7 on it with some applications and some games.

    If you can swing it, I would recommend a 64 or 80GB...as that will give you breathing room. I have an 80GB Inte X25-M G2 myself and I've still got 50GB free on that drive after loading my OS, apps and 2 games.

    No problems with having 2 drives, that is what I do. I use the mechanical drive for my storage, my page file and my browser caches.
