Win7 and Q22wb driver/colour profiles

I have a ViewSonic Optiquest Q22wb monitor that works well for the most part. I am however finding it difficult to find a set of windows 7 x64 drivers and colour profiles that work with this monitor. Would anyone have any ideas? They would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Hi version01,

What have you tried so far? Here's a link to the x64 Windows driver page for your model by the way, just in case!

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply, the effort is appreciated. Sadly I tried that very same download a few days ago. It tells me that it doesn't support this operating system. Is there some special trick to getting it to work with 7?

I've wandered around the Googleverse searching for "windows 7 q22wb drivers" along with other variations to no avail. I'm guessing they are just taking their time with creating 7 drivers. One of the search results led to Download_DriverDetective-6.3.1.5 (I haven't installed it as it sounds somewhat sketchy), is this legit and useful or is it evil? Thanks again

Hi again. The only trick to getting drivers to work in Windows 7 is that often the Vista drivers will work just fine. This is clearly not the case with your display.

I just downloaded, installed, and ran Driver Detective after finding it here: Driver Detective | Driver Update Software for Windows 7, Vista and XP ... it's definitely legit and not evil. Useful? That depends on how honed your Goog-Fu is. First DD scans your system and tells you how many outdated drivers you have, and which devices they go with (I was impressed by this - I had known my ATI driver was out-of-date even though Windows always said otherwise... but DD confirmed it.) At that point, you can pay to register the full version of the app and it will (presumably) go fetch all the missing driver updates for you. I opted out, and was still able to find 4 / 6 of my missing drivers by Google searching. Even if you're willing to pay, there's no guarantee DD will find your ViewSonic driver (or that it even exists).

Hope that was helpful!

Cheers,

I hate to be the guy that said "you don't need drivers," but, well...

Unless your monitor has some special computer-controllable feature like touch sense, you don't need drivers for it.

Color profiles on the other hand, are a cinch. I won't waste your time telling you how to create them, but if you have them and want to load them, you need only open the Color Management applet already included. Select your monitor from the drop down menu, check "use my settings for this device," add a profile and click "Set as Default Profile." You may find it handy to copy your profiles to the default directory(*) Windows uses beforehand, but it's not necessary as they can be run from anywhere.

*C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color

Unlike XP, they load every time.
