Dual-boot mouse pairing problem
I have a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 that works great in both Windows 7 Professional 32bit and Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on my Samsung N110. The problem happens when I switch from Ubuntu to Windows, or vice versa. The mouse doesn't work until I re-pair the mouse by making it discoverable and reconnecting. On Windows the situation is worse, I have to remove the mouse from the Bluetooth device list, and add it as a new device. Once I do this, it works fine until I switch back to the other OS. Both OSes seem to register that I'm trying to use the mouse, and give me an option to enter a PIN code. Entering "0000" at this prompt in Ubuntu allows the mouse to work OK, but it rarely shows in that OS. Doing the same in Windows always generates a cryptic error (I'm not in Windows right now so I can't generate the error readily). I looked up this error code and it didn't seem to lead me down the path to a solution.
It used to work flawlessly when I had Windows XP Home SP3 and UNR 9.04. No pairing when swapping OSes, I didn't even need to reset the mouse by switching toggling the power switch off and back on. It... just... worked! My hunch is that somehow 7 and UNR have different Bluetooth "MAC" addresses (for lack of a better term), and that's causing the mouse to be confused. Does anyone know how to check and/or change the Bluetooth MAC in Windows 7? I figure it will be much easier to change it in UNR, so I'll follow that route first. I just need to compare the MACs in both OSes.
