I Just registered to post a fix that helped me with this issue.
Have seen numerous queries regarding problems with Win7 not detecting
IDE drives vis USB and hope it will help someone.

Actually it is very simple. Contrary to conventional practice where the HD is supposed to be jumpered as Master, just switch it to "cable select".


PS. This was with seagate drives.
