Are LCD Monitors getting better?

    I'd hang on to that old CRT if the image quality is so important to you..
    they use more power than LCD's and often have a much bigger footprint
    - but, if the pure image quality is the driving factor, you won't get better than a CRT

    I passed my old CRT on to my son, and I must say I envy him - the image is much softer on the eye and still gives superb results..

    it's a Dell, BTW..

    IPS and PVA panels are the best type. Here's a site that lists some of the best and can tell you what type of panel an LCD monitor has....... TV & monitor recommendations - FlatpanelsHD

    Some monitors also have a shiny front to improve perceived contrast instead of the anti-reflection matt surface most have, but then you'll get more reflection problems (like a CRT).
