new card reader

OK, after installation of my new card reader I find that the usb mass storage device is not showing up in "computer" tab. It installed fine after my connector blunder and drivers loaded via 7. It is fully functional it just doesn't show up in the computer tab. Although when you put a card into a slot it will show up in computer tab. After further reading set up guide, there is a customization that happens when you load the drivers from the CD/DVD disc as describe above. However I din not load the drivers from the disc and it is using this customization anyway. Is there way to manually make/force the separate drives of card reader show up in computer tab.
