LightScribe Problem

Hi All,
I just tried burning a Light-scribe DVD and realized It no longer sees my drive as a Light-scribe Drive! It worked fine the last time I used it, but I think that was when I was still running XP....Is there an Issue with windows 7 and Light-scribe drives? The drive seems to work fine in every other aspect...just no LS support!
My motherboard is a ASUS M2N32 SLI Deluxe and the LS Drive is a LG and is seen as HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55L ATA Device in the Device Manager...I tried uninstalling the drive and drivers and loading all the software that came with the drive. Just in case it makes a difference I am running Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

Thanks in advance for any help with this,
Mike

After installing Windows 7, did you re-install Lightscribe system software, required to enable LightScribe functionality? If not, you can do it here: LightScribe - Downloads - Windows.

Hi Kari and Thanks for the reply....The only thing I installed is the same stuff I installed when I first bought this drive for my XP system....which is the software that came with the drive! Does this meen I have to install additional drivers or something for Win 7? I will give the link you sent me a look, and TY again!

Try the link I gave to you, download and install LIGHTSCRIBE SYSTEM SOFTWARE (LSS). If you can print to Lightscribe after that, everything is OK. If not, we'll try something else.

Hi Kari, I downloaded and ran that setup and used the "Run as Admin" option and the install gets to a certain point and Errors out with the Following Error:

Error 1402.Could not open key:
UNKNowN\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18c3B9B
1A1EE8\7E57782224c65CF4E801A9E52375DB49. verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Any Ideas?

Nice thread...I just had this same problem on my HP desktop with a light scribe drive...now it is working fine....Thanks for answers. O by the way..I went ahead and modified the "component" registry key as the Okino website suggested instead of just the "parent" key for this particular problem so I would not run into this problem again. Worked great.....again thanks for the good links.

The Lightscribe website is very informative, giving a lot of good tips. I'm using, if not daily but at least weekly, the Template Labeler which you can download free from that site.
