sorry about asking these questions again :(

I value you advice highly my friends and want to ask you again about a laptop.

1st wanted this since 10/22/09 ( now it's discontinued )

then this came out 1/15/10 ( too many reviews about running HOT )
Gateway Official Site: Shop - Notebooks – NV7915u Laptop Product Details

now I'm trying to save for this one: ( B4 it gets discontinued )
add another $120 for ability to play 4x blue ray discs - nv 7919u
Gateway Official Site: Shop - Notebooks – NV7923u Laptop Product Details

1.) has anyone PLAYED with / OWN a laptop with an I3 &/or I5 processor?
2.) how much better than the system I currently have ?

ps. these all have an extra bay for a slave drive! ( not mentioned on specs )

all the best

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ®™

I'd rather buy an H.P than a Gateway system, and I'd never dream of buying a HP, but each to their own. Have a look at some on Newegg, and what you could get for your budget...

Windows Seven Ultimate

The advantages of the Gateway NV7923u compared to your current system -
Huge, High Definition, screen
extra 1 gb RAM
Core i5 - Turbo Boost capabilities - The upgrade to this CPU would be very noticeable in performance.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

It will be faster, but tremendously so? Not really. that is not at all to say that it is a bad notebook, but the question becomes what is your usage? Keep in mind, Core i5 withstanding, this is still a budget dedicated gpu. If the screen size is an issue, and adding blu-ray, so you were "in the market" for another computer anyways, then IMHO it is just fine. I am just saying that aside of screen size or adding blu-ray, there is little that this computer offers that your current one is not well capable of doing, right?

BTW, although I tend to go with HP's, my wife sells Gateways as well as other notebooks, and their track record appears as good as anyone else's...although I do always love the descriptions...<I>"night sky black..."</I>'s <I>black</I> right??? 'Ya gotta love marketers!

Few questions regarding RAM
I have 2GB DDR3 RAM on my laptop at the moment, I was thinking about getting 1 or 2 GB RAM added to my laptop. I'm planning to add more, as CPU is constantly hitting nearly 1.5gb ram with very few applications opened. I have some basic questions, (they may be silly in nature too), I would...

FAX Questions, Please
Hello, Sr. Citizen now, and frankly not at all sharp with this stuff. Would be most appreciative for any help. Is it possible to have my PC receive FAX's, as it would regular e-mail ? Or, do I have to purchase one of those FAX modems I read about, and utilize our phone line ?

Questions about the MBR
Alright, so long story short my home built desktop has 3 hard drives. One of which is a far newer Western Digital Caviar Black 750gb drive. The next oldest drive is approximately 4 years old 250GB seagate hard drive that was I originally got as a replacement drive for an older computer. ...

Some fan questions
Ok, so my AMD Phenom II X2 idles around 40 - 45 C, which I don't like. I'm currently using a heatsink from a 2003, Socket 768 era computer. The heatsink actually fits my AM3 socket. The fan I'm using is from another heatsink which shipped with my CPU, it was a generic made-in-china heatsink and...
