    Drives mirrored help

Hey...In Win 7, I used computer management of the OS to mirror a drive, so there is an exact copy of each in case of one failing. It works well under Win 7 and the drives together function correct.

When I boot into XP, the mirrored drives do not have a letter assigned. I can not assign one either to them because computer management (in XP of course) shows them as "Failed (Active)."

My question is does anyone know if it's possible and how to get these drives enabled (as mirror, same as in 7) in XP?

You probably won't - Windows 7 is much more advanced, and *technically* Vista and Win7 are using a newer version (though supposedly backward compatible) of NTFS, which might mean that in this respect there is no backward compatibility....

And then there is this: XP Drive mirroring - Tech Support Forums - TechIMO.com

    See the last post....

I am not sure that article is accurate. I have setup and used both striped and mirrored RAID sets in XP SP2 (Not sure I ever had any earlier disks) and you can find plenty of information on RAID setup and controllers from many sources including the manufacturers of RAID controllers online including how to slipstream the required drivers and SP3 onto a CD for quick installs:

microsoft slipstream raid drivers xp - Bing

I think the issue lies in the way that W7 and XP handle RAID arrays and the new Windows 7 boot manager. I am sure I setup mirrored and striped RAID arrays in XP using at least XP SP2.
