Scan and Fix prompt everytime I connect external USB

    I fixed it doing standard disk error check:

    Computer->Properties->Tools->Error-checking->Check now (Automatically fix file system errors).

    I got this issue when my computer got turned off at the wall during a video render to hard drive.
    I also own a Macbook pro and decided to connect my hard drive to that. I was able to delete the problem file that was being created at the time my computer powered off.

    I just reconnected it to my PC and had no prompt to scan and fix. All good so far.
    If in doubt find a mac as scan and fix really messed up my hard drive and deleted 50% of data the only time I ever tried it
