Adding Blu-Ray to Gateway Computer...

I am considering adding a Blu-Ray drive to my computer.

Gateway Support - 1009566*Gateway GM5472 Desktop Computer

I have upgraded my video (HD4550) and memory (now maxed at 4GB), but otherwise it is a stock system. I think with the system specs and available Serial ATA connectors (according to the spec) the system should handle Blu Ray.

One issue that concerns me is that the bezel on the system has its own door that opens when I open the CD player... and some sort of button that I think transfers a press to the button on the front of the drive... I haven't pulled it apart to look, but does anyone have experience with this arrangement?

I plan to replace the current DVD burner in order to avoid stressing the 300W power supply (this also drove my choice of video card).

Any advice on drive selection is welcome.

It looks like the bezel is designed to work with industry-standard optical drives, so you should be OK. I imagine that it's removable if things don't work. (It won't be quite as pretty.)

Is the PSU a standard ATX type? Replacing that might be a good idea, if you wish to keep upgrading the box.

PSU is rubbish - as has been mentioned if it can be upgraded, run to do it. As for the RAM, shame about the 4GB limit - is is the chipset? Finally, a better card would have been a 5570 with full DirectX 11 support, but that PSU is a huge bottleneck.
