Windows 7 - Brother Printer ownership problems

hi guys some help would be appreciated, basically my girlfriends printer has locked itself to her sisters laptop and wont let anyone else print from it or access its settings,

i guessing that somehow, my girlfriend's sister has managed to take ownership of the printer, it shows as *sisters laptops*brother printer, and of course she's asked muggings here to fix it,

now my understanding is that if i simply take ownership from another pc, this will just cause the same problem but it will be locked to the other pc,

oh it connects via USB not over a network but the pc's are homegrouped, i think this is what caused the problem,

any help would be appreciated
