    Creating a REPAIR CD

I'm using a Dell E5500 laptop on which Windows 7 was installed. I want to create a REPAIR CD, but the software tells me that the CD in the drive isn't OK to use (although I've formatted it on another computer) and that I don't have a CD burner (although I've loaded several CD burners and then uninstalled them after I got the message).

Might be larger than a cd. Have you tried a DVD RW?

    cscw7,
What software is giving you that message?

    Follow this procedure:
WIN key | Control Panel | Backup & Restore
In the task pane on the left-hand side, choose "Create a system repair disc"
Insert a blank cd or dvd into the drive indicated by the dialog window
    Click on Create

Please let us know the results.

Screen Messages - Creating REPAIR CD

Attached is a display of the screen messages that appear when I attempt to create a REPAIR CD. The small window at the bottom actually overlays the top error window. I've also tried using a DVD+R in the drive and get the same displays.

    cscw7,
Perhaps the attachment didn't get attached as I didn't see one.

Just as an experiment, if you have a friend with an external usb cd/dvd device, please try it on you computer.

    zigzag,
Just burned another "system repair disk" -- 142 MB total.
