Akasa X4 and Q6600 HELP!!!!!!! Can someone please help me out?!?
I didnt know what my temperatures before I installed my new CPU fan were but now they seem a bit odd.
Im using a program called Core Temp and its telling me that the max my cpus temp has been at since ive installed it (about 30 minutes ago) is 71C and I havent used anything to put a heavy load on it. I bought it just to replace my stock fan, there was no real need to buy it, just a spontanious purchase I guess you could say, but I use my computer mainly for gaming and im scared to launch any (lol).
Could you tell me if the temperature seems to be ok or if theres a real serious problem with it

71C seems quite high for idle. I have a Q9550 CPU on the stock cooler which runs around 34C at idle and a modest overclock to 3.2Ghz. The rated temp for that CPU is 62C. You don't really want to be over that if at all possible Maximum CPU Temperature | Hardware Secrets
I've read in numerous other places that 70C is the rated highest temperature that you want this CPU to run at. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

haha, funny thing, when I installed the fan, I have an extractor funnel type thing on the window of my case and as I put the side of it back on, it pulled the heatsink backwards, pulling out the front 2 pins, fixed it now and on idle its at 25
False alarm :P

Just a good thing that you caught it before you put any real load onto your box which could have put that chip into thermal overload pretty easily. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD
