It's EXPLORER.EXE Not Finding USB Drives

After careful inspection I believe it is 'explorer.exe' that has the bug when it comes to the problem of Windows 7 not finding your connected external usb drive. Everything else detects the usb drives....except 'explorer.exe'.

Someone PLEASE tell this to Microsoft as I am about to spread all over the internet that NOBODY should switch to Windows 7...this is MAJOR bug in my book as now I have to split my main drive just to accommodate the space I need to do backups...arrggh, I should switch back to Vista...I knew this crap was a waste...windows 7

bronx,
I've never encountered this problem. Perhaps someone else has.

If you need assistance with a problem, please give us your system specs and as much info as you can so that we can help you.

Easy, easy, you can't blame win 7 because millions of people are having success with it. Just keep plugging along and you will find the problem. Sometimes things go easy and sometimes they can take a toll on your patience, time, and faith.

SOLVED!

I did not want to believe it but the culprit was PARAGON partition software...and at that rate the latest version. I knew Paragon gave me problems before but I thought with all of their experience they'd have things licked by now.

I began to un-install some updates, then programs I thought could cause the problem...it was Paragon, as soon as I removed the partition application...BINGO!. Their backup application hasn't produced issues...but I think I learned never ever to use Paragon for partitioning.

Windows 7 STILL HAS BUGS

Windows 7 isn't in the clear yet...there are still some dumb bugs. How about the one when you copy a directory to another location...there isn't any directory there with the same name or contents and Windows 7 gives you a pop up that it already exists...it tends to do that very often. There are some graphical bugs left over too. I think MS should have just left it as a face lift for Vista...I'm mean, who do they think they're fooling with the sales pitch.

Thanks all for willing to help out...PLEASE make a note of this horrible incompatibility between Paragon and Windows 7.

bronx,
Paragon Partition Manager 10 is listed as being "compatible" but did not receive the Microsoft Logo. (according to the latest app compatibility list I have from Microsoft.
