HID Access denied

Long story short, i have a Microsoft Sideiwnder X6 Keyboard, all macro keys work, Intellitype is installed fine and is functional, mute pause e.t.c all work fine but the volume knob does not.

I tried changing Human Interface Device Access to Automatic but i get an error message saying access denied. This error also comes up when i log in as my account, administrator (even though my account IS the administrator account), and LocalHost.

Also I'm not sure what part of the forum to post this so apologies if this should be elsewhere.
