Would anyone know why Windows 7 lists "Floppy Disk Drive A:" in the list with Devices With Removable Storage when I don't have a floppy disk drive of any sort - and could I remove it from being shown ?

Go into your BIOS and make sure you have not enabled a floppy.
I have seen the floppy show up on some installs if you are using the Epson 700 or 800 series Artisan printers also and there aint much you can do about that one.
