After i tested my ram with memtest i have 2gb usable

    After i tested my ram with memtest i have 2gb usable


    my pc is ( windows 7 64bit,xfx 5870,4gb ddr3,p55-ud3p,corsair h50)

    i used memtest yesterday to test my ram but it said i cant test all my 4gb at once so i made the test for 2gb and there wasnt any error in the test after while i closed it then found out it says 4gb is installed ( 2gb is usable) also on bios it says 2gb i reinstalled my windows again and still the same
    i dont know what to do

    type msconfig in search. Go to the boot section advanced tab. look for max memory. It should be unchecked.

    you was right it was unchecked then i clicked on it and restart my pc but still 4gb installed ( 2gb usable )

    Memtest should not be telling you only 2 gb is testable. Did you build the computer, and how did you insert the RAM as far as slots?

    If you open Task Manager, go to performance, resource monitor button, memory tab, how is your memory divided?

    i think that happend cause i closed memtest in wrong way

    Where are you seeing the 4gigs installed and 2 usable? In task manager? can you upload a screenshot of the performance tab in task manager?

    If it looks like this (see snip) it is correct.

    Are you able to access and change the slots for the ram or reinstall? Make sure it is seated completely on both ends, especially if you have a board that does not have the lock downs on both ends.

    Are you using any video memory set aside for that specific use, or anything else like that?
