Disk Manager Doesn't Recognize C:OS Partition

Recently I removed a linux partition and merged the Free space into the C:OS. The tool I used was Easeus Partition master. At that time I also created a recovery partition in case I ever needed to redo a clean reinstall of Windows 7 on the C: OS drive. Then a couple days ago I was going to do a cleans reinstall of windows. When I loaded up windows installer from the dvd driver it couldn't find a hard drive on which windows was installed. After doing this I discovered that Window's disk manager doesn't recognize either partition. The only visible drive is my dvd. Both the C: and recovery partitions are visible in windows explorer. However the device manager doesnt recognize any hard drive as installed. I downloaded the seagate tools to no avail because it too doesn't find any hard on my system.

When I boot from the window's repair disc it recognizes C: as the location of my windows installation. I have tried repairing and rebuilding the MBR with both windows cmd line in the repair disc and using a third part software. When I tried to do a system restore it listed two C:OS drives, one as "missing" and the one I actually use. I have also tried reinstalling the harddisk drivers and firm ware to no avail. When I tried to use MOUNVOL to remount the C:OS volume I received an error message that the directory was already in use.

There's no real functional problem right now, but it makes weary that if I should ever need to reinstall windows 7 again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well you can try running the setup.exe file from the installation disc, from Windows.

The problem isn"t getting window"s installation to start, its that it can"t find a hard drive to install it on to. That why I thought to check disk manager after that happened.

    Hello,

    Welcome to 7 Forums.

In this case, if you have a Windows XP bootable disk, insert it into the drive and run the Setup, until it comes to the partition select screen. You may be able to see all the partitions in the XP setup.

Delete and re-create partitions using the XP disk and then without installing XP, change the disk to Windows 7 and restart. Then run the 7 setup and you should be able to access your drives :)

    ♥ Cheers ♥

    Similar problems.

I'm having whats seems to be the same problem. I'm not sure if it was a problem with setup or what, but regardless of whether I try to go to the device manager or do a direct clean install from the windows disk, neither recognize my hard drive partitions. How is this suppose to be fixed?

    Hello,

Are the drives detected in the BIOS?

Check the jumper on the drive; make sure it is set to "Cable select".
