Computer's Bluetooth Name

When sending files to bluetooth devices from my laptop it appears as 'from bobslaptop' (just an example) whereas my computer name is jameslaptop.

Any idea where this setting is stored?

Check what name is displayed for the Bluetooth device in "Devices and Printers"

To change the name,
1. Go to "Start" -> "Devices and Printers"
2. Right click the Bluetooth device and select "Properties"
3. Select "Bluetooth" tab and type a new name.
4. Click "OK"

Hmm is that for the paired device or the PC? I'm talking about the PC name.

That is the device name, not the paired devices name. Paired devices will not show up in the Devices and Printers section.

Beauty, got it sorted! Thanks for your help.

For anyone else with this problem, the exact menus for me were -

Start > Device and Printers
Right click on the icon for your computer > choose Bluetooth Settings
Click on the Hardware tab
Double click Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (should be named similarly)
Click on the Advanced tab
Type a new name
OK > OK
