Windows 7 on Dell Inspiron 8200 (circa 2002)

I just installed Windows 7 ultimate on a Dell Inspiron 8200 which is now about 8 years old. It works. (It has been updated to 1.5 Mb RAM, a 160 Mb HD, and a dual layer DVD burner). The problem is the graphics as it has an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 (M9) graphics card. The latest Dell drivers for that date back to 2003.

([/S on] Thanks Dell for allowing ATI to make their catalyst drivers usable on mobility cards [/S off].

Unfortunately the catalyst modding software by independent modders does (yet) make the catalyst drivers work on Radeon Mobility 9000 cards.

I was actually very surprised that Windows 7 did not complain about installing all of Dell's ancient drivers, including ones for the ethernet adapter and AC97 audio.

So did you get any Radeon 9000 drivers installed?

I found some XDDM XP drivers that worked for my Lat D600 with the same graphics as yours, no catalyst though.

The only drivers I have installed are the ones from 2003 - the graphics score is 1 but at least they work.

Where did you get your XDDM XP drivers? What's your Windows 7 rating with them?

I references in this thread at post # 98 to Vista drivers but unfortunately the file sharing service deleted the file due to inactivity and I have not yet found another source:

Don't remember where I found them, I have a copy I can up somewhere if you need them. They are inf, so they need to be installed via device manager.

Rating is poor due to the fact that AERO will not run, my score is 1.0 also

I needed them because of my WXGA+ native screen resolution of 1400x1050
