I have a Targus bag that I transport my HP 2710p Tablet PC, which sits on it's 'back' edge. With Windows Sleep mode, the laptop goes fully into a low power system, and it automatically hibernates if it has been a long amount of time i sleep.
If it had an SSD it would be better....but I have no qualms of transporting it when it is in sleep mode. I rarely power the machine off, except to reboot the machine when it has installed updates.... | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number The Beast Model V OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 965 EE @3.6 GHz Motherboard eVGA x58 Classified3 Memory 3 * 4GB Mushkin Enh Redline CL7 DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3-12800) Graphics Card eVGA 560 Ti 448 Core Classified + eVGA GTX260 SSC (PhysX) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio (on-board) Monitor(s) Displays 2 * Acer X213Wbd Screen Resolution 2 * 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Keyboard Mouse Logitech Performance Mouse MX PSU ThermalTake BlackWidow TX TR2 850 W Case ThermalTake Level 10 GT (Black) Cooling Corsair H100 CPU | 2 * TT 140mm TriLED | 2 * Antec TriCool Hard Drives 1 * Intel Cheryville 520 180 GB SATA III SSD |

Make sure that any flash usb stick or adapter is remove during the backpacking. Seen the results of not pulling one out before, not good. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway GT5692 OS Windows 7 Ulti. x64 CPU AMD Phenom 8450 triple-core 2.10 ghz Memory 4GB Graphics Card ATI Radion HD 3200 Monitor(s) Displays Gateway FPD1775W Screen Resolution 1280x720 Hard Drives 465.6613 Gibibytes |

Lol - my first thought was "omg, that's just obvious...."
Then I realized what *I* had seen happen to both lappys and UFDs - and you're right. It never hurts to explicitly state even the little things like this....
Sleep, hibernate and off are good for the lappy in storage - *on* is ***NOT***
Don't leave things in the USB slots as they can get damaged . destroyed, and can also damage / destroy your laptop with the right type of impact....
Do not store bulky material inside the bag that can pressure the LCD screen - likewise, make sure the LCD screen side of the bag has the most padding, as that is much easier to damage than the bottom of most lappys.... | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number The Beast Model V OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 965 EE @3.6 GHz Motherboard eVGA x58 Classified3 Memory 3 * 4GB Mushkin Enh Redline CL7 DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3-12800) Graphics Card eVGA 560 Ti 448 Core Classified + eVGA GTX260 SSC (PhysX) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio (on-board) Monitor(s) Displays 2 * Acer X213Wbd Screen Resolution 2 * 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Keyboard Mouse Logitech Performance Mouse MX PSU ThermalTake BlackWidow TX TR2 850 W Case ThermalTake Level 10 GT (Black) Cooling Corsair H100 CPU | 2 * TT 140mm TriLED | 2 * Antec TriCool Hard Drives 1 * Intel Cheryville 520 180 GB SATA III SSD |
