Transporting a Laptop
My wife has a laptop she transports fairly often. She has been putting it in her backpack so that it is on-end when she carries it. Will this cause any problems?
Thanks for any insight. :)

Never had a laptop but isn't being portable the whole point of them, I don't think it makes much difference if they carried on their end or any other direction as long as they aren't being knocked around to much.

i would just be sure that its on standby and other than that it should be okay...
i transport mine everyday but as long as you take care of the laptop you should have no problems
also test that the laptop can comeback from standby and that it goes to standby normally and does not start itself....
@grim
try lugging those alienware computers...
those are more than 10lbs which means there are not very portable in most people's eyes...
aren't alienware laptops more about power than portability though?
Wow, good (and fast) responses! Thank to each of you. :)
Also, make sure you have the HDD backed up. They don't like to last a long time when moved around often. The dell D630s are the worst I've come across with the 80 gig drives needing replacement every 5-7 months.
use a well padded carry case, well-built laptops from brand names are rugged
Thank you Ollie and Monga too. Good advice on backing up the drive and making sure the case is well-padded.
