    System Information Detects Wrong Model

    Hey everyone,

I have a HP nw8240, which I had to put a new motherboard in. I didn't notice whether or not the following was the case before the new motherboard. I bet it was, because I simple restored to a system image.

Anyway, it detects it as being a nc2000. I think that these models potentially share a common motherboard, not sure.

I have the most current BIOS flashed.

Is their anyway to make it detect it as the correct model? Or tick it?

    Thanks!

I was hoping to do it in the same way that you are able to edit OEM information in the registry by adding REG_SZ and setting values. Where is system information stored in the registry?

    Answer

On Windows 7 or Server 2008 you can go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\OEMInformation in the registry and modify these values.
