unable to initialize Disk - because of an I/O error

oh finally!! i found someone who let me test my HDD on his PC (xp sp3) ...
xp detected it instantly, but couldn't get any files or mount the old partitions from it, so i tried to format it and created a small partition to test..
after that my seven on my laptop recognized the small partion on it directly
now i created 2 other partitions (with seven's disk manager), but i am not sure if that "bonheur" will last for ever, i mean, is there a way to tell if this HDD will not crack again, and can i trust it on my important data?

Glad to see you got it solved. It didn't sound like anything major. It's always best to backup important data, but I see no reason why you can't depend on that HDD. Sounds to me like a fluke problem due to a bad connection, but it won't hurt to test the drive for stability, just to give you some peace of mind.
