If you have a normal type of computer case, you do have a 2.5 inch drive slot available. The floppy drive slot is 2.5. If you have one in there, just pull it out! I'm sure no one uses floppies anymore.

Only the OCZ Vertex series worth buying now (if you consider price/performance).
The other models are too expensive and slower. Intel x25-m and e series are perfect but prices are too high right now. it's way over your budget.

I agree, if the look at the performance figures and the lifetime warranty for OCZ vertex drives. :)

It will be back quickly -- it's a fairly new product and probably in short supply.

Since you are saving for it, one assumes that you do not need to purchase immediately. That is probably a good thing as prices will drop (although no one can predict how rapidly).

I second that and I seriously doubt it's worth buying a SSD drive right now. let the tech mature a bit and the price drop before buying one. If money isn't an issue, and it doesn't seem to be your case, buy one. If you're saving to buy a SSD, think twice, or more, and invest into something else instead. $450 for a drive isn't worth it. a cheaper and fast regular hard drive mounted with rubber band trick or alikes would make you as happy, if you're looking for silence more than speed.
And I'm not mentioning the problems some some controllers likes the ones from jmicron. Somebody posted a link about it somewhere in the thread.

I just purchased an Intel x25-M 80 Gb. It is a piece of junk. I can't even install Windows 7 on it. I understand that if you have a Nvidia chipset, this SSD will not work. I found out the hard way. Intel Technical support is a complete joke. They were very unknowledgeable and unhelpful.

I will be returning the drive and wait until another company that is a little more consumer oriented to come up with a good drive.
I find your posting rather ignorant. Intel happens to make very quick and reliable SSD's. You should fault your Mobo manuf and not Intel.

Yet another reason to stay away from NCrappia's Chipsets
