    Mouse = "Uknown USB Device"

    Hello Windows 7 Forums!

I recently bought myself a laptop and am having troubles with a wireless mouse using Windows 7 Home Premium.

    The mouse is a:
    Micro Innovations
    Model #: PD7250LS

Device manager only recognizes it as an "Unknown USB Device."

Micro Innovations tech-support tells me that the mouse is generic and that they do not have drivers for the mouse; Just software to help configure it.

The odd thing is that Plug N Play works great with Linux. Even stranger is that it also works great, with Windows 7..... while using a Hub.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976.

The mouse also works like a charm on my friends Compaq CQ61-410US using Windows 7 Home Premium as well.

    Any ideas?

Try switching to a different USB port. You're correct in your assertion that there are no drivers for it.

Hi, just a shot in the dark but could it be that the mouse is getting to much or too little power from your standard USB port?

Please remember although software can't think for itself, hardware sure can.

Check your USB drivers are up to date and try another USB port.

    Oli

Edit: You beat me too it again notsograymatter!!! At least we're posting more or less the same stuff.

Toshiba's website did not report any updates for the USB Controllers, and It fails in all 3 ports but will work once every blue moon... For instance: It's working for the first time in 1 week ATM, but if I were to reboot it would no longer be recognized.

A couple of fixes I copied to notepad : basically get the power off altogether for a minute or two (and battery for a laptop) plug in the usb device/devices - plug in the battery then power for the laptop and restart. I have limited experience with laptops and this is how I would try if it were I, but if it differs in any way, or doesnt work please reply.
    (1) Shut down the Computer!
    (2) To fix the problem i had to un plug all the USBs.
    (3) Un plug the power cord!
    (4) Now plug in all the USBs.
    (5) Plug in the power cord!
    (6) Turn on the Computer.
All is OK now!I hope this will help the next person.

This is for a usb hard drive, but its also for a laptop, so might be helpful:
To solve the problem on a Sony notebook running Windows 7, turn off computer, take the battery out. push in the start button for 30 seconds. Meanwhile, unplug your external usb drive from the power source and from the usb. Turn on the computer, plug the power cord back into your usb drive and plug the usb cable into it then plug the cable back into the computer. Windows 7 will detect it and install it. All is well with the world.

    Did not work

    Doesn't work. : /

How would I go about changing the power though? If anything I would assume too much seeing as my external HDD functions beatifully where as the mouse will only function with an external hub.

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

ALSO: When the mouse works device manager reports it as an "HID Compliant mouse" using the drivers "mouhid.sys" and "mouclass.sys". Is there any way I can manually install the drivers without the device manager? Perhaps some registry entries somewhere?

    CODE 43 error means :
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
    Recommended resolution
One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.
If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.
Type this is in search - "Find and fix problems with devices" and run the wizard - I would suggest check the fix automatically box.
You could update your chipset drivers - if they are nforce, go here:
    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
Also go here if they are others : download from Guru3D.com

I have run the Troubleshooter App as well as the "Mat's Fixer" app on the Win 7 site.

    AMD Support Search

The site you gave me did not have any AMD drivers, and AMD's website also showed me no updates for my chipset.

    Double Post

Sorry about this double post but: I figured out that if I switch ports a few times it will eventually work.

    Thanks a bunch guys!

If you can still help me figure out why it takes that it would be appreciated.
