    I had the same problem with 7077 after I had removed an account from windows. It totally stopped access to one drive.
    The only way I managed to get it back was to change all of the access rights including drive owner.
    it is a long process as all permissions have to be changed and inherant rights.

    A simple way to fix the write protection is to do a quick checkdisk on the write protected drive. So right-click on the drive and select 'properties', then goto 'Tools' and select the 'Check now' button.

    This is not a permanent fix, but at least you can write to the disk again.

    FYI, it seems the link changed, but the solution still works! Here is the update to the link Sintek posted (thanks!)

    Windows Write Protection T3CHWORKS -

    And here is an exerpt of it, in case it changes again:

    Recap

    Start > Run "cmd"
    type--> diskpart
    type--> list volume
    type--> select volume #
    type--> attributes disk clear readonly

    Thanks to the owner of T3CHWORKS!

    Hey guys,

    I need some help. I followed this exactly guide and it ave me an error saying "failed to clear attributes" or something to that nature. Drive was in volume 5 and its still locked. Now when I go and list volumes there is no longer a 5th volume. Any advice? My computer wont even read this drive any longer and I don't really know what to do next.

    Sounds like either the drive you are trying to unlock is not being seen by the OS (because of a hardware issue - power, cable, etc.) or you lost another drive and the all drives are now re-numbered (i.e. drive #5 is now #4 or something like that).

    Try re-connecting the drive in question - maybe the OS will recognize it. Does that drive show up if you plug it into another computer?

    I have this same problem with my external hard-drive (every time I go to save a file to it, says the drive folders and files are all write-protected).
    I continue to run :
    Start > Run "cmd"
    type--> diskpart
    type--> list volume
    type--> select volume #
    type--> attributes disk clear readonly

    and it removes the write protection for a short period of time. Unfortunately Windows 7.0 quickly reapplies the "write protection" to the drive, folders & files. I say that Windows 7.0 applies this attribute as I take to other computers and the drive will work fine with XP and prior windows versions.

    There has to be a simple way to correct Windows 7.0 from doing this. If anyone knows, please share as I have searched far and wide and have not found the permanent solution (though I have found a pletora of others with the SAME problem).

    Thanks
