Help with Phenom II 955 on Asus M4A78T-E

Hi, recently purchased Asus M4A78T-E motherboard and 4gb DDR3-12800 from ebuyer, and matched them with phenom II 955 I built the pc today but nothing happens when I power it on everything powers up i.e fans, hard drives and green light on motherboard but there is no display? Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions as to why to this? I was thinking maybe the motherboard needs a bios update, but even without one it should still post? get to boot screen?

Thought id post here before returning the parts as faulty.

    Thanks,

    check your mobo power connections

should have like 24 pin one and then another 8 pin one

if your psu doesnt have those you can go 20 on the one and 4 on the other

edit nevermind just looked at the board and its not like that

Yeah it powers up fine there is just no display tried using onboard graphics and a 8800gtx but no luck :-(

surely this board should post even though the cpu is new? otherwise how would u ever update a bios with a new cpu installed? this is really confusing me everthing looks fine maybe the board is doa?

Hi Boomstick777, the maximum memory speed for that motherboard is 1333Mhz.

Have you got the right memory? :)

Yeah it supports ddr3 1600 also its labeled as overclocked becasuce the phenom II 955 only supports 1333 but should be fine on this mobo im using ddr3 1600 pc3-12800. I was told earlier that if you remove all memory it will still post and display an error message I tried this but still no post just blank display. ill get some pics up in a sec...
