Awesome! I saw those on Amazon but since I have only heard of the other brands (Seasonic, Antec, etc) I didn't know if EVGA was a good choice. I definitely trust your opinion

There are good choices from EVGA, Seasonic, XFX, Antec, Superflower, and possibly others.

I'd consider factors such as return privileges with the seller, warranty, and customer service from the manufacturer if it ever came to that. As far as I know, Amazon rates pretty well on return privileges.

A good 500 to 550 watt unit is all you should ever need unless you are using multiple video cards.

Don't get overly concerned with the bronze/silver/gold/platinum thing. It has little relationship to quality. You should be able to find a number of suitable gold-rated power supplies, but I certainly wouldn't shy away from bronze or silver if it was otherwise suitable and was at a good price.

"Full modular" PSUs make for a less cluttered installation. "Semi-modular" means only some of the cables are detachable, but that's typically fine as well.

Some people are more sensitive to fan noise than others and some PSUs are definitely louder than others. There are a few models whose fans do not spin at all until the PC is under a pretty good load.

There's some chance that your particular Gateway case doesn't have enough space to mount all ATX power supplies, so I'd probably measure the existing one and try to replace it with one of the same dimensions. This isn't a common problem, but it can happen with OEM PCs like yours.

I am going to measure my current psu and compare with all those suggested. It has to mount on the top so I guess I cannot buy one that is much taller than the current one.

I sure appreciate the suggestions....there are so many brands to choose from!!

Well I'm sure the stock psu is no prize but it looks like a normal mid tower and a regular atx psu will work fine or at least it looks like one should

I would get a modular psu so you can only use the wiring you need and it just look 100% better

EVGA 850 G2 is a good choice and a lot better future proofing for additional upgrades = Graphic's cards in the 980ti series or even the titan series depending on how you go with that.

Yep everything i pull up says a atx psu will fit they are just deeper in the case than the narrow stock one.
