    [help] printer through wireless router

well i wanted to set up my printer and connect it to my laptop so i dont have to transfer my files to desktop computer and then print, its much of a hassle and its in my parents room. so like i installed the printer already on my laptop via USB cable, i can print anything through USB cable. but i dont want that.

so i try to add a printer through wireless connection. but it won't connect it says

i have updated all drivers for it and it works perfectly with USB but i can't seem to connect through the router.

When you attempt to connect through the 'router' is the printer still plugged in to the laptop via usb?

You need to "share" the printer through your laptop (and keep the laptop powered on while printing from another computer)

no i disconnected the printer from USB when i try to connect through router, just my logical thinking.
i already enabled printer sharing on the desktop computer, before hand.

ok cool. However, 'enabling' printer sharing is not necessarily "sharing" the printer.

When the printer is connected via USB to your laptop, open printers and faxes, right click your printer and select "share". the "everyone" group should have 'at least' print permissions.

You're trying to share the printer over your home network... ya?

Ok... what OS is on the desktop machine you're trying to share with?
