Hi all,

I've just got a M11x notebook computer with 7 home on it and I am having trouble opening documentation.

My main computer has Xp pro and has no problem opening files with Open Office or Microsoft Office, all the files are saved to an external HDD and my problem is that when ever I try to use the external HDD on the notebook ALL documentation files (Microsoft's Word/Excel or Open Offices Write/Calc) show up as read only.

I have tried changing the properties and have changed any that had the read only box marked, but to no avail, nothing at all seems to work.

Can anyone suggest anything that may help??

P,

when you say "read only", does Office think they are read-only files and say so up in the title bar?

if so, just save them as something else on your computer and copy them back to the drive and you should be good to go.
