New SATA HDD not recognized, help!

    Hey folks.

Installed a new WD Caviar Black 750GB drive for backup purposes today. BIOS recognizes it. W7 recognized it and installed the drivers. The drive, however, doesn't appear under My Computer. I reinstalled the drive, this time with a different SATA cable into a different SATA port (from SATA 2 to SATA 3), and the drive is still recognized in BIOS but not in W7. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

So how about telling the rest of us how you solved the problem. Perhaps others also have this or a similar problem and could use the guidance.

A valid point. If you post a query and then manage to solve it on your own, then please post back, not just saying that you have resolved the problem, but how you did so. That way, you will be helping others in the same (or similar) situation.

my guess is that the plus + sign was clicked on in my computer .. the drive list was not expanded possibly .. providing this is windows XP ... or rescanning of the disks had to be done in disk management

An uninitialized disk won't appear in "My computer"...
