    Quad Core 2 Cores at dif temps


    My q9400 burns at 33c on idel on cores 0 and 1 but cores 2 and 3 burn 2c hotter is this normal for a quad core?

    I can't speak for quad cores, but I can tell you that my dual core laptop consistently has hotter cores than the actual "CPU" temperature. The Diode also runs hotter. I believe this is all normal.

    ohhh just i was a little worried that the thermal compund was not applied correctly as it does this

    Hi, depending on how your cooling is setup this sounds normal to me.

    As a rule of thumb whenever I build PCs I allow about 3 degrees temperature difference between cores just to allow for various variables etc.

    As long as it doesn't consistently exceed about 6 degrees difference when your CPU is near 100% I think you'll be fine.
