System Idle Process hogging Pentium D
I'm running Windows 7 on a Pentium D 2.66GHz cpu with 2GB of RAM. I have a problem with cpu allocation that I just can't figure out. The image is of my Task Manager showing nothing really is running, but one core of my cpu is running 63% in lockstep with the other core running about 13%--in other words, the first core is running 50% higher for no reason. Has anyone seen this problem before? Is there a solution? The problem shows up randomly at any time from 10 minutes after restart to 5 days. The only way to get rid of it that I know is to restart. Please help!
