Sometimes you find the panel type in the manufacturer specs; other times you can find out by googling around; also a search for "IPS monitors" yields a farm of lists that you can use.

After looking at newegg for the past 3 hours or so I bookmarked about 27 different monitors that i found appealing and had overall good reviews.
I tried to narrow them down but it didn't work as well as I though.

Little better, not much.
I have everything for my system rebuild either on the way or in my possession, only thing left that I need in a monitor. I'm pretty set on the Dell UltraSharp U2410, I'll probably have one for a while till I can pay for a second one, if I decide I want to do that. I see how having a good IPS monitor would be more beneficial compared to a single or even dual TN Panel display after reading reviews and such. But due to cost I'm still curious as to whether a TN display would be fine since I really don't do design commercially, it's all just for fun.
On a side note, does anyone know how often Dell has promo's for it? I've searched around and have found old promo's for $100's off but can't find any current ones.
Realistically, a TN would be fine - but there's always the chance you'd have a nagging voice in the back of your head wishing you went with an IPS...
I've got 3 of them and I have them in game mode 24/7 - I could have settled for TN panels, but personally I'm glad I didn't.
They're relatively frequent. On a side note, does anyone know how often Dell has promo's for it? I've searched around and have found old promo's for $100's off but can't find any current ones.
So I've been wound up in real life problems for the past two months so I computer is still to be built. I have the GTX 580, and sadly its been sitting in the box since September when I ordered it. I'm afraid to look at the price in fear its already dropped.
I have some time now since I'm working part time and would like to get it put together and get the last component, the monitor. I've been watching the Dell Ultrasharp U2410 and missed one promo in December and have not been able to find another since.
I've been waiting so long I still can, but I'd like to get this wrapped up as I have neglected it for so long.
So alternatives, deals, anything?
Thanks as always.
