Front usb connector problem

I have just changed my system from a large case to a matx case, but used all the part except the mainboard. Changed from a Asus P6T Deluxe to a Asus Rampage Gene II.

Now I thought I might have to reinstall windows, but as luck would have it, it booted straight into windows with no other problem except I had to register windows.

It was only when I tried plugging in a usb memory stick into the front of the case that I got a bsod. If I plug it into one of the back usb ports it works. So I checked to see if the cable was attached correctly on the internal header and again it was.

So could this be down to windows or a hardware problem?

Anyone know where I can purchase a single usb connector for the front of the case, here in the UK?

If it helps, the front USB ports may be connected by a non-powered hub (the power to each USB port is too low).
Connecting via a powered hub may work (or just trail a USB extension cable from the back)

memory sticks should be fine on this, there are things like mp3 players that charge through USB that wont charge on hubs that are not powered.

The front ones should be powered though. If the stuff is broken and you just got it, call the case mfg. and get them to send you a replacement for the whole front panel it might be just the connector, but it might be the whole usb port ?

Another problem is it could be not grounded and sending voltage through the computer and the board is shutting down to prevent damage.
