sotorius, if disabling CF doesn't solve your problem, here's what you can try - go to BIOS, disable any power management/power saving that your processor supports (so that it won't underclock without your knowledge), make sure you have the latest AMD ATi Driver (IIRC it's 10.4), but UNINSTALL the old driver first, and clean it up using Ccleaner or something similar. See if it helps...

For cleanup, I recommend Phyxion.net | Driver Sweeper | Products | Products - much much better than anything else I have tried for both ATI and nVidia driver cleanup.

I'm still curious as to what the "problem" is? "seems like no games run smooth" is just too vague for me. Driver updates "might" help, but...

    Just trying to help.

My 2nd core stays disabled most of the time because a lot of games have issues with 2 cores.
I've posted some "alterations" I make to get Win-7 machines performing better in real time. These tweaks are only to get performance up to the level that WinXP had pretty much out of the box.

10 Windows speed tips that DON'T work.

Let's face it, Win-7 has a lot of extra **** going on some of it interferes with what you called "smooth operation".

Multitrack audio recording/playback was erratic. Before applying these "tweaks" the system would drop audio for a second or two when stressed.

Download the DPC latency tool and see if you're getting any spikes.

nothing in bios is in power saving mode all disabled. Drivers are up to date, i use driver sweeper. As for a main game i am talking about is Bad company 2, also seeing it in HoN. those are the 2 i can think off of my head, and the only ones im really playing right now. just seems every game ive played latley has some sort of issue. whether i figure it out or not.

For the record i have no AV running in the background. Internet bandwidth is fine, this is why im looking towards hyper threading and maybe my sound card.

If you get a chance, download the DPC latency check tool. Very simple, doesn't even write to the registry. See if you have any spikes in the red.
