    Memory usage

Why would my system which has 8 gig of ram show only 6.99 useable ? I have never noticed this before, just noticed it when doing tweaks to my motherboard and ram on this new set up, or is it just my head not working proper

Enable Memory Remap in your BIOS :)

It is likely caused by the way your graphics card uses shared memory, in this case, 1Gb of it.

The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers

Sorted it, trouble was for some reason the check box in msconfig/boot/advanced/max memory was ticked, as soon as I unchecked it and rebooted it was all there

Thanks for the followup. I just check 3 Win7 systems here and none had that box checked. And on one, it reports 4G but only 3.75 available. That is using on-board graphics so that might explain that, but another machine with on-board reports the full amount. As does my 8Gb system. Ain't consistency nice?
