Window 7 won't recognize the IDE HD!!!

I've been using my Window 7 for a few months now. I installed the window 7 on my sata hd and IDE as slave. Just recently, I was checking my PSU and pulled the IDE cable out from the hd and put it back in. Turned it on and the window 7 was looking for a driver couldn't install it. My IDE drive is not recognized on the window anymore.

Searched around and went to the disk management to add drive name. However, when I added drive, and went into the drive; it could not read all the files that were on that drive. It was a blank drive with the amount of gig that is left and couldn't read. What can I do? Having the master on Sata worked be4.

First... make sure your hardware is ok.

-Check the drive cable at the motherboard end.

-Pull the cable out of the drive and check to make sure you haven't bent a pin.

-Replug the power supply cable.

Why did you check the PSU? Is it possible it's not supplying enough power to the drive.

You want me to set my IDE as master, even though the window is on my sata HD right now?

I can set using that little rubber on the back of the hard drive, what is cable select?

cable select is not master nor slave you can plug any of the two socket of the ide cable as long as you got the right end pluged to the Mobo .. jumper setting usually printed on the drive ...and set your sata drive as first boot .

I found my IDE hard drive does have cable select. I will set it to that. Next is booting from sata. Is this when you go into Bios?

You shouldn't need to go into BIOS.
CS will automatically be recognized.

Question, when your drive originally was unplugged, did you re-attach using the same cable and the same connector? Slave connector is grey, master is black. With CS it doesn't make any difference?

I have the 80 sum IDE cable. Connected the same from one end to the other. I read that the middle is the slave right? So if I connect from one end to another, that makes it master. Tell me if I'm correct.
